Preparing for Your Child’s Hospital Dental Surgery

At Sky Pediatric Dentistry, your child’s comfort and safety are our top priorities. Before their scheduled dental surgery, you’ll have a pre-operative appointment where we encourage you to share any questions or concerns you may have. The more we know, the better we can ensure a smooth and reassuring experience for your child on the day of treatment.

Please review the following guidelines to help you prepare for your child’s hospital dental procedure.

What to Know Before Surgery Day

Fasting Guidelines:
  • Morning Surgery: Your child must stop eating and drinking at midnight the night before the procedure.
  • Afternoon Surgery: No food should be consumed 8 hours before the scheduled surgery time.
Clear Liquids Only (until 6 hours before surgery):
  • Allowed: water, apple juice, sports drinks, black coffee
Not allowed: milk, creamer, orange juice, alcohol, or any opaque beverages
  • If you’re unsure about any food or drink restrictions, please ask during your pre-op appointment.
